September 11th, 2001 marked a turning point in the American way of life. In a single day, terrorists shattered our false perception of invulnerability. Hurricane Katrina proved that there are some disasters that even the entire resources of the United States government are not equipped to handle. On January 17, 1994, the Northridge earthquake began its devastating torrent through Los Angeles. Buildings, roads, bridges, and overpasses were destroyed, and countless lives were spared only because of the early morning hours of relative inactivity...

COPSS is the voice of the Harbor Area neighborhoods concerning stakeholder security and emergency preparedness. We have established a direct and positive relationship with the first responder agencies working on evacuation and emergency planning for the Harbor Area.
COPSS initiatives will ensure that community stakeholders are informed, educated, and ready to survive an emergency situation. COPSS has coordinated its efforts into forming a cohesive, community outreach plan based on education and preparation. The time to take action is now!
